Pet Portraits

How it works…

This is a beautiful watercolour pet portrait created as a Crhistmas present from a Father to his Daughter. Her two dogs are peacefully asleep with her on her bed. The setting is her bedroom with the sign LOVE on her windowsill. His daughter is a teenager and is also featured in the portrait. Her grey, pink and silver decor creates a lovely soft and feminine colour palette, perfect for the painting.

The process of Pet & Family Portraits | From photo to painting

I’ve made it easy for you to Book A Portrait or simply enquire, by filling out the Book A Portrait form on the website. Once your enquiry has been received I will email you back with an answer to any questions.

Next send me some photo’s of the pets and people to go in your painting.

There are two painting styles for you to choose from. WATERCOLOUR or OIL PASTELS.

Here are some examples of both.

Watercolour sketch process from sketch to completed painting
First I sketch the picture then send you a photo so you are happy with it.

These are WATERCOLOUR PAINTINGS this style is great when more detail needs to be added or people.

This is a watercolour pet portrait of a family of four sat on the sofa watching TV with both the greyhounds stretched out taking up all the room. The brindle greyhound is called Tiggi and the fawn greyhound is called Ledge they are both retired racing greyhounds.
The Sofa | Watercolour Painting Family & Pet Portrait
Walkies | A watercolour painting including previous dogs that have passed away as well as current dogs still alive.

A water colour painting includes more details and works much better when you want family members included in the painting.

It’s a relaxed one to one process and doesn’t require any payment until you are satisfied with your booking requirements.

These are OIL PASTEL PAINTINGS

Photo to finished oil pastel painting of collie dog Jake.
Send photos and I will send you a sketch before I paint it. So everybody is happy with the result.
Special commission for artist Danny Abrahams of his Affenpinscher dogs for his girlfriend for Christmas. The two Affenpinschers need cushion steps making for them to get up onto their silver grey sofa. Pet Portrait created in oil pastels.
Seymour & Gizmo | Oil Pastel Paintings are more textured with less detail.

Oil pastel paintings are more textured and quirky, this style is great when it’s just the pets. It really gives them character.

This is an original oil pastel for a customer of artist Amanda Reynolds. The pet portrait is of a deceased black and white staffordshire bull terrier and was commissioned as a beautiful memory of him. He is in a front view of a staffy sitting down. He is situated on a beach with a very big stick in front of him. The staffy also has starfish and a sandcastle and rocks around hi. In the background there is an old ruined castle on the cliffs. A red and white lighthouse and a sailing boat on the horizon.
Beside The Seaside | Oil pastel of Rosco in his favourite place.

It helps if you have decided on the style you like and the size you want. If you’re unsure I can talk you through what works best for you and how much it will be.

Secure Your Place.

When we are both happy you will be required to pay a deposit. This will secure your place on the list and is non-refundable. Or you can pay in full. Payment can be made over the phone using your card, via BACS bank transfer or via Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account to use this service. I can talk you through any payment steps if required.

Please bare in mind that once a Pet Portrait is booked, there is usually a 6 week waiting list. So if it’s for a birthday present just let me know from the start and I will always try to accommodate your deadline and find some availability on the list for you.
