After my latest creative meeting with children’s author K. Woolhouse, I wanted to share one of my favourite layouts with you so far, for her new book, that we are working on together.
The author approached me last year, through my face book page Amanda Reynolds Designs, to commission me to illustrate her first children’s book. The layouts are starting to look amazing together. It’s a great learning curve for me, taking a lot of planning and sketching, in depth creative briefs and discussion and I love it. The whole process is fascinating, exciting and I can’t wait to share more with you all soon. I have a passion for illustrating vibrant pieces, and have tried to capture the fun and energy of the children rolling down the hill in the park.
I’ve always been inspired by other children’s illustrators such as the infamous Quinten Blake, Adrian Reynolds and more recently, Martin Impney, I don’t just read to my kids on a night, I drink in every drawn line, every brush stroke, composition and facial feature, of every illustration in their lovely books, and that’s so I can learn more and aim high, to keep improving on my work.
If you are interested in commissioning your own book, or an original personalised piece, please message me for more details. I hope you enjoy the blog. Amanda x
